LoL Shield – Lots of LEDs!
Just receive my new LoL Shield from Jimmie Rodgers – it’s an Arduino shield with 9×14 LEDs. After a long evening soldering I got it working and it’s pretty cool.
It works on the principle of charlieplexing – allowing you to control n*(n-1) LEDs with n pins thanks to the diode properties of LEDs. Tricky to get your head round (Instructables has some good tutorials), but pretty useful.
I’m gonna use what I learn from playing with this to feed into a big LED project I’m working on.
